Liberty University Online’s enrollment has reached 80,000 students. This increase makes Lynchburg, Va.-based Liberty the nation’s seventh largest four-year university and largest private, not-for-profit, four-year college and the largest college in Virginia.

Over the last few years Liberty University Online has undergone a period of extremely rapid growth. In December 2006 there were only 13,000 students taking online courses from the Christian college, or roughly the same number as reside on the campus. The school reached 25,000 online students in March 2008, and is predicted to have 100,000 students enrolled by the end of the year.
