
Despite being a noted legal scholar and the director of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics at Harvard University, Lawrence Lessig is perhaps best known for his work with a host of different foundations devoted to increasing open access to information. Lessig has written and spoken extensively on the subjects of copyright extension and software patents. He is one of the leading figures in the free culture movement, which promotes the freedom to distribute and modify preexisting creative works.
