Ginger, the online software proofreading company, announced on Aug. 22 it raised $5 million in its extended round of funding from investment companies, Horizons Ventures and Harbor Pacific Capital. In addition, the company received $400,000 from its current investors.
The company has developed a software called Ginger Proofreader which proofreads a user’s context and makes corrections to spelling and grammar based on billions of sentences from the Internet. The software is integrated with Microsoft Office and multiple web browsers.
To date, the company has raised nearly $21 million. The company announced it had received 600 million queries on Aug. 14.
