Leslie-Jean Thornton is an associate professor at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Her research focuses on professional journalism practices, convergence, and new media. She focuses primarily on the different types of “digital divides” that may or may not form as the result of changed distribution models and reporting techniques for news. Before accepting a Freedom Forum fellowship to pursue her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill she worked as a newspaper editor in New York, Connecticut, and Virginia, most recently at the Norfolk, Va. based Virginian-Pilot.
