South Carolina-based Southern Wesleyan University announced it will now be offering two online degree options to begin in the spring. Southern Wesleyan is a private, not-for-profit, Christian university offering two-year, four-year, and graduate degrees.

Its Associate of Arts in General Studies will be available online Feb. 17. The 60-hour degree program consists of coursework in English, math, computer science, history, Bible, religion, and social sciences. It is designed to provide a basic curriculum to allow for transition into a bachelor’s degree program, though it does not have to be used as such.

Southern Wesleyan will also be offering an online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration beginning in 2013, but with no set start date yet. Requirements for the business degree include courses in business communications, economics, business law, financial and managerial accounting, management information systems, marketing, management, and finance. The degree is designed to provide students with an overview of all business fields and for careers in accounting, finance, banking, management, or entrepreneurship.

Southern Wesleyan offers a variety of distance learning programs but this will be its first venture into fully online degree programs. The university is regionally accredited by The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
