The University of Cincinnati announced Nov. 14 it is launching an online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy this spring. It is a degree completion program geared toward respiratory therapists who already hold an associate degree and seek leadership positions within their field.
Applications are due Dec. 1, and the program begins Jan. 7. It can be completed in as few as 20 months, part-time.
Students in the program will complete 28 credit-hours of core courses in respiratory therapy ethics; community health problems and practices; healthcare documentation and communication; integration of delivery of respiratory therapy; caregiving in the respiratory therapy profession; management in respiratory therapy; aging and respiratory therapy; disease management and patient education; and respiratory therapy research.

Students will also complete 16 credit-hours of coursework in research methods and analysis, leadership and project management, and a clinical internship, and a six credit-hour capstone class.
The online bachelor’s degree completion program in respiratory therapy is one of six online degrees offered by Cincinnati’s college of allied health sciences. The school also offers online bachelor’s degree completion programs in medical laboratory sciences and health information management, and online graduate degrees in communication sciences and disorders, health administration, and health informatics.
The University of Cincinnati is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
