Admission to Liberty University is about 45% online and occurs on a rolling basis, making the school less selective, yet more accessible to prospective students. Prospective students should download the free Liberty University app for Android, Blackberry, or iPhone. Liberty Online, the university’s student portal for distance learners, boasts more than 100 programs of study, low tuition rates, and places a priority on education through a Christian worldview. The Online Classroom
Since its founding by Rev. Jerry Falwell in 1971, Liberty University has served students in an Evangelical Christian environment, both online and offline. When including all of its online students, Liberty University is the largest Evangelical Christian university in the world, and has the largest enrollment of any university in its home state of Virginia. With its many online degree programs, Liberty University offers a flexible and functional path to obtaining a degree.
Associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and graduate degrees are all offered through Liberty Online. Prospective students at Liberty University’s online program can sample an online course on Liberty University’s online portal, as well as learn degree requirements, and access course materials online. Once admitted, Liberty Online students will have access to a resource library, professors and fellow students, as well as technical and other assisting bodies.
Liberty Online students do not have to be Christian, but a Christian worldview is presented in classes both online and off. Typically, students take a class or classes in eight week sub-terms on a 16-week semester system and academic calendar. Some programs require a few face-to-face meetings, but many degree programs can be completed entirely through Liberty Online’s student portal. Prospective students at Liberty University and Liberty Online have many options for financial aid. Liberty students should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and must do so once per academic year. Liberty University has a six-step financial aid system that includes applying for scholarships, loans, and grants where applicable. Students must maintain their own financial responsibility for schooling, but financial counselors are available to Liberty students every step of the way.
