Online courses will require two trips each year (one in mid-October and the other in late-February or early-March) to Calvin’s campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. These eight-day "intensives" are designed to allow students to meet the other members of their cohort. Following this on-site "intensive," the remainder of the courses will be completed online.
Although students take courses online, Calvin considers holistic ministry preparation to be a key part of its theological program. Instead of meeting in a classroom, students use social media like Google hangouts and discussion boards to connect with their program cohorts. Students also take part in online mentoring groups where cohorts will support each other in prayer and discussion. Calvin also encourages participation in internship opportunities.
